In the finest hour of glory and fame a beaming Shah Faisal reminded me the following quotes:
“Dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you’re willing to pay the price.”
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
He was 19 when his father, a school teacher in Kupwara , Kashmir was killed by unidentified militants. Odds were heavily stacked against him and his family. Those who have seen the cities and towns of Kashmir shut down in eerily silence as soon as the light of day dimmed and walked through the empty lifeless streets in times of violence could only get the hang of the situation. It is not a easy life. Behind the picture post-card beauty of Kashmir there are unending tales of misery, hardships and deprivation. It is a society which is the victim of emotional paralysis - a crisis ridden ribbon wrapped around the legendary bouquets of fragrant buds and flowers. No matter which side of political spectrum you stand, you hear the echoes of guns and ubiquitous presence of misguided terrorists - the very young boys sold to perverted ideas and religious fanaticism. In this atmosphere of uncertainty and darkness there is a youth who turned the hurdles into opportunity; who showed that adverse circumstances, personal tragedy and non-conducive environment can’t come in the way of determined individual.
The tribunes of Vote-bank politics in and around Muslim Community in India are never tired in proclaiming that Muslims are denied their proper share in national prosperity. The throw the wet blankets at the optimists and put the red herrings across the emerging Muslim youth with the negative forebodings. They want them to be the alms-getters and always at the mercy of others all the times. These always cry hoarse for RESERVATIONS. In the name of glorious past they give them lullabies to put them to slumber. They cry discrimination in every sphere and tell that Muslims have lost the race.
Shan Faisal has proved that in the vibrant Indian democracy every one has a chance. Stop complaining, stop crying and work hard for your goals. Nothing can come in your way. A successful person has a clear idea of what success means and he has the courage, belief, and persistence to pursue it.
They say Urdu is language that is banished; it’s a language that has beauty and power but the script is LOST; it is a language which is out of business. Only the film-industry is the pall-bearers of this sweet-tragedy. To prove it all absurd, wrong and meaningless it was a boy form Nadwatul-Uloom, Lucknow who had come out in the UPSC Exams in flying colors with Urdu as one subject. Now Shah Faisal has topped IAS with Urdu as a main subject. The gist of the story is - No one is against the deserving people. No one likes those harbor the lazy, complaining and negative airs. Everyone loves sincerity and honesty.
Congrats to you Shah Faisal ! We share the happiness of your family. May Allah grant your father a esteemed place in heaven. You have made us proud.
